Parametric Study on Coupling Loss in Subsize ITER Nb , Sn Cabled Specimen
نویسندگان
چکیده
The cable in conduit conductors for the various ITER coils are required to function under pulse conditions and fields up to 13 T. A parametric study, restricted to a limited variation of the reference cable lay out, is carried out to clarify the quantitative impact of various cable parameters on the coupling loss and to find realistic values for the coupling loss time constants to be used in ac loss computations. The investigations cover ac coupling loss measurements on jacketed suband full size conductors with variations in type of cabling, twist pitch, void fraction, and thickness of the chromium coating. The results are summarised and conclusions regarding the ITER cable design are presented. Scaling laws for coupling loss versus void fraction and number of cabling stages are presented.

Bending-Strain Test Results of ITER Nb3Sn Wires and Preliminary Model Analysis
Bending effects on Nb 3 Sn wires have been investigated to understand the critical current degradation of large Nb 3 Sn superconducting cables, such as the ITER conductors. Characterizations of the critical currents of various Nb 3 Sn wires were carried out by a previously reported pure-bending strand test device using the 20 T, 195 mm Bitter magnet at the National High Magnetic Field Laborator...
متن کاملThe Influence of Nb3Sn Strand Geometry on Filament Break- age under Bend Strain as Re- vealed by Metallography
The non-Cu critical current density of Nb3Sn strands has been pushed towards 3000 A/mm2 (12 T, 4.2 K) by increasing the Sn content and reducing the interfilamentary Cu. We compare the susceptibility to A15 filament breakage (under 0.5% bend strain) of the new high-Jc internal Sn conductor geometries with both high-Jc Powder-in-Tube (PIT) and low hysteresis loss distributed filament ITER designs...
متن کاملImage Analysis of Nb3Sn Strand For ITER Application: A comparison with SSC Nb-Ti
We have quantified the distribution of filament sizes and filament separation in internal Sn type Nb3Sn strand manufactured to ITER specification. In Nb-Ti strand for the SSC we had found a clear relationship between filament cross-sectional uniformity in a given cross-section and the n-value for an entire strand, but for the Nb3Sn we are not able to find one. In these Nb3Sn strands, however, t...
متن کاملBiomechanical Evaluation of Ti-Nb-Sn Alloy Implants with a Low Young’s Modulus
Dental implants are widely used and are a predictable treatment in various edentulous cases. Occlusal overload may be causally related to implant bone loss and a loss of integration. Stress concentrations may be diminished using a mechanobiologically integrated implant with bone tissue. The purpose of this study was to investigate the biomechanical behavior, biocompatibility and bioactivity of ...
متن کاملThe Interdiffusion of Cu and Sn in Internal Sn Nb3Sn Superconductors
For Nb3Sn superconductors manufactured by the internal Sn process, the most appropriate heat treatment is still a matter of debate. The major complications are the low melting temperature of Sn and the 7 Cu–Sn phases. Each phase has its own diffusivity and atomic volume, which differs significantly from the pure Sn and Cu phases from which the diffusion starts. Void formation near the Nb filame...
